Beginner Digital Photography Class

January 2nd, 2012

Do you have a DSLR camera and want to learn how to take great pictures of your kids?

Have you had your camera for a while and you are frustrated that your pictures are not looking as you imagined?

Are you tired of reading technical manuals for your camera that don’t answer the basic question: how to just take a better picture?

Do your images sit on your camera card for months, never downloaded or very disorganized on your computer?

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Many parents purchase DSLR camera in hopes of not missing a moment of their children’s lives, but are not totally satisfied with the images when they appear on their computer screen.  They just want their images to be better.

This workshop will help you take better pictures of your kids.  It focuses on concepts you can easily put into practice, just by understanding lighting, composition, perspective and age appropriate techniques.  Participants will walk away with a 80 page presentation manual that includes both in depth details and quick tips for common situations which will help them improve their photos immediately… just by taking the time to assess light, change up their angle, and remember a few quick tips.

Topics include:
* training your eye to find the light,
* composition and perspective,
* lens and focal length selection,
* tips for great images at any age
* output: downloading, storage and printing
* high level review of exposure
* auto and semi-manual settings

Bring your camera and bring your questions!

**** This is NOT intended for photographers or for those with an understanding of how to shoot manual!  :)

What To Wear….Senior Edition

September 9th, 2011

Tis the season for senior portraits!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE senior sessions…they are more laid back and you can get VERY creative!

Each year, I get the question…”What should I wear?”….Truthfully, the options are ENDLESS…But I always suggest…LAYER, LAYER, LAYER

Layer sweaters, cardigans, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, necklaces, boots, hats…they ALL add an extra dimension to the outfit!  All the different textures of material add an extra pop of “wow” to the portrait.

Clothes can truly make the difference between a good portrait and a GREAT portrait! :)

You also don’t have to go out and spend a TON of money…look for items of clothing you already have in your closet that you can pair with a new shirt or sweater…or a piece of jewelry that you haven’tworn in AGES might just be the perfect piece to add that extra “wow factor” to your outfit!  :)

here are a few examples of some outfits

The top right and top left outfits are from Old Navy…The top center is from Forever 21.

The bottom three outfits are all from The Buckle.

Oh Man…does this little boy ooze cuteness or what?   The rolls…sigh…..his happy little personality…sigh

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this age to photograph!

He came to my house this wek for another project I am working on…but he was soo happy we decided to strip him down to the buff and let him “model” for us!    We were rolling laughing!
